The Supreme Court ruling was no surprise. The United States proclaims “life and liberty for ALL.” How could they have ruled differently?
The Bible states clearly, in Matthew 19:4-5, “Haven’t you read,” he (Jesus) replied, “that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’?” Our country is not 100% Christian, though we were founded on Christian principles. Everyone is not subject to Christian doctrine.
Most of us do know someone caught in this situation, and many of them are Christians. When we are personally involved with these people, our friends, it makes the Christian doctrinal statement harder to swallow. The Bible also tells us — “Let your gentleness show in your treatment of all people. The Lord is near. Don’t be anxious about anything; rather, bring up all of your requests to God in your prayers and petitions, along with giving thanks. Then the peace of God that exceeds all understanding will keep your hearts and minds safe in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:5-7.
We no longer stone people for committing adultery, though that was the punishment centuries ago.
God is no respecter of persons. He loves us all. Lifestyle is between the individual and God. It is not our place to judge. But we are required to love.
Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. I John 4:7-8.
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:34-35.
The larger issue is — will the Christian Church change doctrinal stance to allow gay marriages within the church? I suspect that most will not, but some may. It compares to the controversy — is a fetus a person with a soul or a tissue which can be removed?
Bottomline: we are required to LOVE.
